Just like a Hallmark movie, family traditions in the South last for generations. One of those traditions on the list is the "Christmas in the Park" at Holmes Water Park in Tylertown.

After a day of overeating, football, and counting blessings on Thanksgiving Day, families begin their Christmas Season. Magical staged displays of millions of colorful Christmas lights tell stories from Santa to the birth of Jesus. It doesn't matter if you are a child or a senior citizen, you will get the same warm feeling of the holidays to come. I sure do!

We love to load up in the car, windows down, drive the paved route through the park, cars bumper to bumper listening to the sounds of classic Christmas music. The Walthall County Chamber of Commerce says over 32,000 vehicles take the tour each year. The park is open seven days a week from 6-8:30 pm. Admission is $5 for cars, $10 for commercial vans, and $20 for buses.

Lexie Head Start Center is located in Tylertown. This learning center is for kids 0-3 years of age. My mother worked at Lexie Head Start Center for years as a family service worker. This center also has an early childhood classes for infants. The program gives kids a head start before they attend kindergarten. Please give your child a head start in life.

The Tylertown Christmas parade is held on the first Tuesday in December at 5:00 p.m This parade is growing larger each year. People from all over South Mississippi attend this parade. If you and your family want to enjoy the Christmas spirit in Tylertown, please come to this parade.

If you want to see some beautiful Christmas lights, please come to the Holmes Water Park in Tylertown. The admission is $5 for cars, $15 for vans, and $20 for buses. You can see this event beginning Thanksgiving night through New Years Eve. This event is for all ages. So come down to the great city of Tylertown to witness this spectacular event!

Our Sunday drive took us for a dip in the Bogue Chitto River at Canoe & Trail Outpost located at 118 Dillon's Bridge Road, Tylertown. When you drive down the dirt road into the park, you find a rustic adventure awaiting. People come from local areas as well as out of state to enjoy the outdoor experience along the beautiful Bogue Chitto River.

Canoe & Trail Post offers accommodations for cabin rental, RV hook-up, and primitive camping. The campground facilities include restrooms, hot showers, pavilion, boat launch, white sand beaches and large tour buses. The must do activity is floating the river by kayak, canoe or tube, all of which can be rented for a nominal fee. All rentals do include life vests, paddles, and shuttle drop off and pick up. They also offer overnight, long day and short day trips on the Bogue Chitto River and Magee's Creek.

If you want your kids involved in a great little league football league please try the Walthall County Rams! This league allow kids from the ages 6-12 to play, learn, and travel. This league will teach your kids sportsmanship and skills they will need for the junior and high school level.

This lake is located in the Lexie community south of Tylertown. If you like fishing, swimming and camping this lake is for you. I learned how to swim at this lake when I was seven years old. I have a lot of good childhood memories here.

If you want some good home cooking you need to stop by Jefferson Barbecue just across the Pike County line. The ribs are finger licking good. They have chicken, ribs, and other good eats. When you are in the area, go to Jefferson Barbecue and tell them I sent you.

The Holmes Water Park located in Tylertown, has several activities such as softball, baseball, walking trail,and more. I really love the trail which is a loop around the entire park. Also there is a river that runs through the park. The whole family can enjoy a day of fun at the Holmes Water Park.

If you need a huge space to have an event, please try the Southwest Mississippi Event Center located in Tylertown. I have been to weddings, funerals, and several other functions at this event center. Newly installed floors give the main space a more modern look. Whenever you need a nice space for an event try the Southwest Mississippi Event Center.

I really love this restaurant! This is the best seafood in Mississippi and Louisiana. I've had seafood all over the country and no one can come close to Stogner's. When you are in the Tylertown area please try it.

Holmes Waterpark is located at the heart of Tylertown. It is a quiet spot for families to come and picnic and enjoy the summer weather. It has a lot of wooded areas for shade and also picnic tables. Several citizens love to walk, run and bicycle the trail. It is a nice park to take outside photos with a professional photographer. In the months of October until the end of December every year, this park hosts Christmas in the Park. It is where the entire park is decorated in Christmas lights. Several Tylertown residents participate in this event. People travel from far and near to pay entrance fee to ride through this park every year and get in the jolly Christmas spirit.

The Tylertown Events Center is one of the main buildings that different residents of Walthall County choose for a variety of events due to the size and location. It is located just past the Holmes Water Park. This building has been used for weddings, parties, funerals, etc. The capacity of this building can hold over 400 guest. It has a large party area and kitchen for receptions.
